Someone on Asa's Blog commented and mentioned the idea of a Mozilla Switchers site. A little while later, I saw this MoveOn.org page asking for people to participate in an open casting call to be in a MoveOn commercial with "real people." This set me to thinking...
This gives a great opportunity both to market Mozilla/Firefox/Camino and to build a little bit of a community, and have some fun doing it in the process. My idea is basically to have an open switchers site, where people could submit their stories (in video, audio, or text, in order of preference) and have a complete guide to switching to Mozilla, as Apple did for their Switchers campaign. Anyone could submit a story, and the best ones would be featured on the mozilla.switch homepage.
Best of all, this wouldn't even be particularly difficult to do. There are tons of rabid Mozilla-loving fans out there who would love to have their chance at a little bit of fame for having their story featured (or just for the fun of trying to act like Ellen Feiss) and we would have the opportunity to present a view from "real people" as to why they should use Mozilla.
What do you think?
