A quick hint to beat the heat

North America's been seeing some high temps. So dunk your cotton t-shirt into some cool water, wring it out, and put it back on.

Instant, and very cheap, air conditioning.

As a Boy Scout, I remember an article saying wet cotton draws heat away 30% faster than bare skin.

growing up in Dominican Republic without AC I already knew this trick. I knew people that would wet their bedheets to sleep on. Man it was hot down there!

Heh, I live in Canada and it's bloody hot here too. Been hovering around 35-40 degrees for the last couple weeks.

(From Alex: I trust that's centigrade... we Yankees tend to think in Fahrenheit.)

35 degrees Celsius = 95 degrees Fahrenheit
40 degrees Celsius = 104 degrees Fahrenheit
