Hack'n'Cook

When you meet each other for years on IRC, some day you'll want to see in real life who's spending their time with you. So the idea came up in #mozilla.de to organize a meeting centered around the German SeaMonkey community there. But the likely participants are spread wide through German-speaking Europe, so a mere evening at the local pub won't work. And not everyone loitering around in an IRC channel is a hacker...

Enter Mozilla Hack'n'Cook:

A bunch of geeks hiding the whole last weekend in the Black Forest, hacking and triaging SeaMonkey, torturing the infamous kitchensink and generally having a good time!

Friday, day of advent, acquaintance and annoyance — Why had that train to derail on my track? Who's getting lost in the hindyard? What happened to the guy with the 300' cat? And why isn't the network, well, a working net, this so feels like 80's IPX!

Saturday, day of brewery gnomes, bugs gnashing and beloved grannies — A visit to the local brewery hacker, the first patches get finalized and JiHa cuddles us with his grandma's famous "Echtes Urloffener Meerrettich-Gericht" (I won't translate that! ;-) ). And the triage triad works its way through the UNCO marsh...

And Sunday, sad day of reworking patches, retrospection and returning home...

Time to start planning for the next H'n'C! :-D

Many thanks to Chewey for organizing the whole event, Chewey and JiHa (featuring his granny) for the excellent feeding and Mozilla Europe for their kind support!

Hey, I have a suggestion for the browser, and I didn't really know where else to put it. I'd like it if I could have 5-10 home pages in an alternating order. There are so many news sites that I never think to go to because they might not have an interesting article up, so I have no reason to actually go to the site; then, I go to it once in a while and see a number of cool articles. This is perfect for local news (where we never think to check out, but always see something interesting when we do).

Anway, thanks for all that you guys are doing :)
