SeaMonkey 1.0 Alpha Release Candidates Available

We've taken care of the last remaining blockers, and now have release candidates available for download here.

Due to the lack of official resources and access, the builds were contributed by:
Linux GTK1 - CTho
Linux GTK2 - ajschult
Windows - CTho
Mac - stefan_h

Please test these builds and let us know if you find any problems.

If you're interested in QA, please take a look at the SeaMonkey-QA blog.

Er... "Alpha Release Candidates"?

I'm thinking that this is a mistake. Don't you really just mean 1.0 Alpha (1) builds? RC is only after beta, we're nowhere near that yet...

No gtk2 build on the d/l site - the gtk1 build is still broke, the save as dialog box bug is still here - been waiting/testing this build for over 8wks now, same bug, gtk1/2 build are all I use. WHen this bug is removed, Ill test, not till then.

Thanks for the Mac version. Are you going to update the main SeaMonkey website with the info?

Why is Seamonkey 1.0a coming out after 1.1a?

How do I set my tank up?

Jason, we did a "release candidate" for the alpha because we wanted to make sure our first release was ok as we'd never done a release before (and had to do our own contributed builds). I would expect future alphas (e.g. 1.1a) will not have release candidates. After all, they're just alphas ;).

Amber, the default linux builds are GTK2. The only GTK1 builds are the ones that are specifically labelled *gtk1*.

Scott, SeaMonkey 1.1a is the name for the current trunk, and it will be based on Gecko 1.9a. It won't ship for a long time. Historically though, the version number on the trunk is increased as soon as a branch is made.
