Released on 01 Aug 07, and this changelog was last updated on 04 Aug 07.
Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 has been released. Release notes are available. This post lists the improvements in Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 over 2.0.0.5. This list encompasses almost every single known fix that went into this release. Do check out the known issues as well.
The Gecko 1.8.x branch (Thunderbird 2.0.x series) will not include any groundbreaking features that Gecko 1.9 brings, since it is based on Gecko 1.8.
Impact key for security issues listed on the Mozilla Foundation Security Advisories webpage:
- Critical: Vulnerability can be used to run attacker code and install software, requiring no user interaction beyond normal browsing.
- High: Vulnerability can be used to gather sensitive data from sites in other windows or inject data or code into those sites, requiring no more than normal browsing actions.
- Moderate: Vulnerabilities that would otherwise be High or Critical except they only work in uncommon non-default configurations or require the user to perform complicated and/or unlikely steps.
- Low: Minor security vulnerabilities such as Denial of Service attacks, minor data leaks, or spoofs. (Undetectable spoofs of SSL indicia would have "High" impact because those are generally used to steal sensitive data intended for other sites.)
Changes in 2.0.0.6: (3)
Security issues: (3)
- Fixed: MFSA 2007-27 - Unescaped URIs passed to external programs (Critical)
- Fixed: MFSA 2007-26 - Privilege escalation through chrome-loaded about:blank windows (Moderate)
- Fixed: 389106 - firefox may not escape quotes everywhere

Marco: nope, that bug didn't make it into 2.0.0.6 I think.

Dear Sirs,
When I receive an email, I get a lot of unwanted undecipherable information before the text. Can you please help me to cancel all this?
Thanks.

Hello,
It seems that since 2.0.0.6 is installed a lot of spam is making it to my inbox.
The subject is marked "[spam]s%" and ends up in my inbox.
Is there a filter I need to re-initialize ?
Thanks,
Michel

After upgrading to Thunderbird 2.0.0.6, I can no longer access my address book. Can anyone recommend a fix? Thanks.

Message tagging (color coding) is not working. After tagging with a particular color, it is gone after several minutes. This is a feature I need for my business. Hope it can be fixed.
Thank you,
Denice

ThunderBird 2.0.0.6 is asking password all the time.
Since upgrade 1.5.X to 2.0.0.6 Thunderbird ask me my imap server password all the time. Even if I checkbox "Remember my password" it keeps asking.
This bug comes when there is a time out with IMAP4 server (my imap server connection is unstable). After this, Thunderbird keeps asking me my password, for any request to imap server, like reading an email (on the server). I need to restart software until next time out.
However i can type password or simply don’t respond, i’m still able to access emails. It is just a bit annoying to have the password window all the time, earlier version of Thunderbird didn’t affect, my imap4 server has all the time been unstable.

Suddenly the messages (in and out) are showing without date. There's only the hour.I've already selected in Thunderbird's control panel to sort all messages by date but it doesn't fixed the problem.

My delete button while reading an email used to delete the email and automatically open the next email in line. With the upgrade, it now shut down the email when delete is pressed.... anyway to define this?

Remote images are blocked... they were blocked before the installation of the new Mozilla...then the new Mozilla asked me if I wanted to unblock anything individually. I did unblock Zacks 28 daily alerts, BUT...now it takes me 14 seconds of just sitting and waiting at the computer for each one of the 28 emails to fully load after I click on them... needless to say, I am getting tired of the major slow down...
Thanks for any help you can give...
