Released on 14 Jun 07, and this changelog was last updated on 15 Jun 07.

Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.4 has been released. Release notes are available. This post lists the improvements in Thunderbird 2.0.0.4 over 2.0.0.0. This list encompasses almost every single known fix that went into this release. Do check out the known issues as well.

The Gecko 1.8.x branch (Thunderbird 2.0.x series) will not include any groundbreaking features that Gecko 1.9 brings, since it is based on Gecko 1.8. Additionally, in order to synchronize the version numbering with Firefox, the 2.0.0.1 - 2.0.0.3 numberings were dropped in favour of 2.0.0.4.

Impact key for security issues listed on the Mozilla Foundation Security Advisories webpage:

  • Critical: Vulnerability can be used to run attacker code and install software, requiring no user interaction beyond normal browsing.
  • High: Vulnerability can be used to gather sensitive data from sites in other windows or inject data or code into those sites, requiring no more than normal browsing actions.
  • Moderate: Vulnerabilities that would otherwise be High or Critical except they only work in uncommon non-default configurations or require the user to perform complicated and/or unlikely steps.
  • Low: Minor security vulnerabilities such as Denial of Service attacks, minor data leaks, or spoofs. (Undetectable spoofs of SSL indicia would have "High" impact because those are generally used to steal sensitive data intended for other sites.)

You might want to clarify in your summary that bug 368112 relates to moving messages between LOCAL folders. The current summary freaked me out ("what? I've been losing messages!?") until I opened the detailed report up and saw it's title. That little word "local" makes a huge difference. :D

Corrected. :D

Can you clarify what "local" means here?
If I have account where all e-mail arrives to "Inbox" located in the tree under account name (not under "Local Folders") - am I safe from that horrible bug?

There is a bug in Thundebird that disturbed me more than four times:
Sometimes I make a mistake in deleting messages that I do not want to delete in the Search Window. Those messages I could not recover or undelete.
Another bug related to this is moving messages between folders if I ask for undo the move the message is deleted permanently and "get out the scenes".
Please correct these bugs for GOD SAKE.
Another bug to be corrected or improvement to be adopted is the function save as file only permite one message to be saved. I need to save four thousand messages. I will not save one by one.
Good job.

@Joao Poco

Hyperlinks in messages don't launch my browser, or even a window in my browser, after upgrading to 2.0; is there any fix for that? Thanks
