Bug Day Revival - Starts May 2, 2006!
Make note of this date: May 2, 2006.
Announcing the grand re-opening of Bug Day Theater. Come take part every Tuesday afternoon for some wild bug whoopin' action. Have a bug biting your butt? Set it up for a developer to swat. Swarmed by clones of bugs? Send 'em to the dupe-o-lator for bug condensing. Kamikaze bugs bugs causing you to crash? Try the new bug zapper hood ornament to pimp your ride and clear the way. Each week lucky me, Tracy Walker, will have the honor and pleasure of hosting Bug Day Theater leading y'all into the fun and excitement of all things bug related.
Seriously though, when Asa changed his focus to marketing and spreadfirefox, a huge void in QA was left behind. Mozilla QA would like to try to fill some of that void by reviving weekly community Bug Days. I'll be in #qa every Tuesday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm Pacific Daylight Time to coordinate and guide your efforts in the bug topic of the week. I'll be scheduling a guest Dev or QA member to join us each week as well.
For those of you unfamiliar with Bug Days; a topic or area of focus is selected by the host, me. :-) Then with all your help, we'll attempt to complete as much of the task as possible. Bug Days is an excellent way to contribute to Mozilla's QA efforts. It doesn't matter if you've been involved with Mozilla for years or if this is your first step into our amazing open source community. Anyone can participate and be a valuable contributor.
Opening Day: May 2, 2006 - Topcrash bug work. Scheduled guest: Jay Patel - Talkback Guru and 1.5.0.4 QA lead.
Hope to see you there,
-Tracy

We will be starting the test day tomorrow at 9 AM EST, 6 AM PST. The event will run until approximately 5 PM PST. Here is the link for this event: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Mozilla_QA_Community:Firefox_1.5.0.x_Community_Test_Day
I will be adding links to the builds as soon as get all of the directories sorted out. This particular test day is a bit trickier since we are in between releases, but there is still plenty to test!

Community Test Day on tap for next week...
Looks as if we will have a Firefox Community Test Day next Thursday or Friday - stay tuned for more information.
The QA team has just finished up testing Firefox and Thunderbird 1.5.0.2, Firefox and Thunderbird 1.0.8, and Mozilla Suite 1.7.13. We are now working on Firefox and Thunderbird 1.5.0.3, so the test day will likely focus on testing for that release.
In addition, we are working to review the feature areas for Firefox 2.0 and starting to flesh out some test cases that will eventually be added to our Litmus test suite. If you have any interest in being involved with this effort, please let us know.

Limit your Talkback search results!
I've added a new feature to http://talkback-public.mozilla.org/search/start.jsp to allow people to limit their search results. As we collect more data and retain it for longer periods of time, some generic queries might take a really long time to complete... so this is something everyone should find helpful.
Just an FYI: We are planning on keeping the last 90 days worth of Talkback data around. Since the DB upgrade on 3/15, we have already passed the 30 day mark and have over 1.2 million crashes stored! As that number triples over time, I just wanted to make sure people take advantage of the results limit and run smarter queries. :-)

Testing on the Horizon...
QA just wrapped up Firefox 1.5.0.2 and Firefox 1.0.8. We are wrapping up our final testing on Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 and Mozilla Suite 1.7.13. If you have some free cycles and want to take the builds for a spin, you can get them here:
Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 builds
If you want to test any of the l10n builds, they should be in that directory soon.
Mozilla Suite 1.7.13 builds are not yet ready, I will post when you can go get them from the candidates directory.

Help us Test Mac Univeral Binaries - PPC and Intel Mac users
We could use some help testing Mac universal binaries. Here are the scenarios we would like you to test:
Scenario A: Running a Universal Binary build on a PPC Mac with 10.3.x
Scenario B: Running a Universal Binary Mac on a PPC Mac with 10.4.x
Scenario C: Running an Universal Binary build on an Intel Mac under Rosetta (to do this, right click the Firefox icon - under Get Info you will see the Run Under Rosetta checkbox
Scenario D: Running a Universal binary build on an Intel Mac under x86
Directory to download the builds: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/1.5.0.2-candidates/mac-universal/
Please report issues to this blog or file a bug in Bugzilla. Please make sure to mention which scenario you were running under - this will help us to troubleshoot any issues.
Things to try out:
(1) Using your PPC created profile on an Intel Mac
(2) Installing extensions and themes
As always, many thanks for helping out with testing. If someone finds a major stop ship bug (as determined by me :), they get a Firefox Chrome Messenger bag (not sold at the store)

Firefox and Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 candidates available for testing
We have some 1.5.0.2 candidates available for testing - we would love it if you would take these for a test spin. Since we did not do a Thunderbird 1.5.0.1 release, the 1.5.0.2 release does contain a fair amount of bug fixes, so any extra eyes on that would be appreciated.
Firefox 1.5.0.2
Thunderbird 1.5.0.2
Here is where you can find the Mac Universal Binary builds: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/1.5.0.2-candidates/mac-universal/
If you are interested in querying Bugzilla to see the bugs that were fixed in these releases, we used the keywords "fixed1.8.0.2" or "verified1.8.0.2" to indicate bugs that were fixed in the release as well as bugs verified by the QA team.
As usual, check Bugzilla before you file any bugs, and feel free to post comments here.

Releases we are working on
Sorry for not posting more often, but it has been pretty busy here in QA. We have been working on Firefox 1.0.8, Mozilla Suite 1.7.13, and Firefox and Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 releases.
I hope to have some updated news soon about upcoming community test days.
We are ramping up for Firefox 2.0. We have divided up the primary FF 2.0 feature areas and we are tracking the development process so we can be primed and ready to develop test cases when features have been finalized. If anyone in the community has a strong interest in becoming involved in this process, please let us know.
