Some help testing Extensions for Firefox 1.5

We have a set of extensions that we would like to see work in 1.5. If you would like to download and test this set of extensions using RC3, you can let us know where you see problems either with:

(1) Compatability - the extension is not compatible with the build
(2) Functionality - for some reason the extension is not functioning right

You can post feedback in this blog regarding the above two items. Please include the platform/OS in your post.

Note that in some cases the authors might not have gotten around to making their extension compatible, so we don't need bugs filed on all of these items. We would just like you to test and provide feedback as to whether the extension is working properly and whether it is compatible. As always, thanks for your testing assistance - you are the key to the success of Firefox!

SpellBound 0.7.3 from the http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/ homepage has been working fine for a long time in the Branch nightlies.

Paste and go 0.4.3
Adblock Plus 0.5.10
Tab X 0.9.2

Windows XP SP2, "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5"
.....
All extensions work flawlessly (though some might have been made compatible with Nightly Tester Tools) -- in particular:
.....
Adblock Filterset.G Updater 0.2.6,
Adblock Plus 0.5.10,
Flashblock 1.3.3,
Session Saver .2 d1 * nightly 30,
Tabbrowser Preferences 1.2.8.7
.....
I have not tested *all* functionality within all extensions, but "basic" functionality works.

Chatzilla + RC3 (also happened with both RC1 and RC2) is looping ifa I leave Chatzilla open for a long time (overnight). Maybe it has something to do with nework glitches? Eventually the browser becomes totally un-responsive, but it seems like the cpu load increases with time.

I have seen the saame probelem on both WinXP and Win2k.

The problem only occurs with Chatzilla active.

Posted by: moj at November 19, 2005 6:05 AM

I have problems with Adblock when there is something in Flash on a page, there is also a problem accessing the tools/Adblock menu using the mouse.

I use Firefox 1.5 RC3 on an Ubuntu 5.10

Posted by: aba at November 19, 2005 6:36 AM

Nothing wrong with my setup at work:

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Extensions (enabled: 14, disabled: 0):

* AniDisable 1.0
* Flashblock 1.3.1
* Forecastfox 0.8.2.4
* InfoLister 0.9c
* Launchy 4.0.0
* Mozilla Calendar 0.8.3+
* Nightly Tester Tools 0.7.9.10
* QuickNote 0.6.0.2
* Restart Firefox 0.3.1
* Statusbar Clock 1.7.1
* Tabbrowser Extensions 2.0.2005111702
* Text Link 1.3.2005070402
* Translate 0.6.0.8
* Update Channel Selector 1.0.1

Not sure, but maybe Forecastfox is forced compatible with the nightly tester tools extension

But this should be compatible on its own as far as i know. Anyway everything is running smooth. TBE is also very smooth.....

I take TabX back. Sometimes it refuses to let me drag tabs from left to right. It's been working since I disabled it. I love it, but it had to let it go.

Posted by: sumguy231 at November 19, 2005 8:41 AM

Okay, it wasn't TabX. I feel stupid now. I'm pretty sure it's something I installed.

Posted by: sumguy231 at November 19, 2005 11:14 AM

Well, let's see if a 17 year-old can test on a build. I've noticed that ForecastFox 0.8.2.4 is running fine. Chatzilla 0.9.68.5.1 [Firefox 1.5/undefined] is working well. No problems like moj had earlier in the day. So far, so good with the best yet, Firefox 1.5 RC 3, soon to be 1.5.

ChatZilla 0.9.68.5.1 returns failure code even after reinstallation:

Because Bug #152391 is not fixed "everybody" need the undoclosetab-extension. Maybe someone with the correct permissions can update the extension on mozilla update with the help of the comments. (Take the new verision from http://mozilla.dorando.at/undoclosetab.xpi and change maxversion in install.rdf to 1.6+)

Hi,

I have installed many of these extensions.
And these were working till now.
All of a sudden all of them have vanished and even after closing and re-opening, I am not able to see them.
For example, I had GMAIL notifier, Reminder, fasterfox.

Please tell me what I should do to get them back?

Adblock didn't work for some time, so I changed to AdBlock Plus 0.5.10 which works.

Posted by: Jed at November 21, 2005 6:10 PM

I'm using RC3, been using since Deek Park 2.

These are all ok:
AdBlock (normal and plus)
All in one gestures
Download Statusbar
Flashgot
GreaseMonkey 0.6.3 (see below about 0.6.2)
Resize Search Box
Sage
SessionSaver (rewrite by rue)
WebDeveloper

Problems:

BugMeNot - appeared to be throwing errors and not updating in earlier builds, but seems to work now.

GreaseMonkey 0.6.2 causes MANY problems, locking up the browser regularly. Disabling made problems go away, upgrading to 0.6.3 (which was quite hard to find) made it work ok again. Please pressure the GreaseMonkey guys into getting 0.6.3 publicly downloadable.

You haven't asked about these extensions, but I'll list the other ones I have that work as well:

Launchy
FxIF
Resizable Textarea (didn't work on some old builds iirc)
CuteMenus
Live HTTP Headers
Context Search
Inspect Element
Google Pagerank Status
User Agent Switcher
Plain Text Links
SEOpen
Nightly Tester Tool
Console2
Download Scan
IE Tab

Posted by: Ian at November 22, 2005 1:36 AM

Btw, when I said to make GreaseMonkey 0.6.3 publicly available, I meant more obviously that it is now (it is hard to find).

Posted by: Ian at November 22, 2005 1:37 AM

I have these extensions installed in Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051121 Firefox/1.5 ID:2005112104 (I always use the latest update system-available nightly), and they all work fine:

Bookmark Backup (Test Build 6) 0.4
Console² 0.2.5.1+
Cookie Extras 0.2.1
CustomizeGoogle 0.38
DOM Inspector 1.8
Flashblock 1.3.2.20051119
InfoLister 0.9c
JavaScript Options 1.2.2
Menu Editor 1.2
Nightly Tester Tools 0.7.9.10
Nuke Anything Enhanced 0.53
OpenBook 1.3.4
Popup Count 0.3.2
Sage 1.3.6
ScrapBook 0.18.0
SessionSaver .2 0.2.1.030
StumbleUpon 2.2
Tab Mix Plus 0.2.5.2
Talkback 1.5
Update Channel Selector 1.0.1
Web Developer Beta 0.9.9

JavaScript Options and Menu Editor required maxVersion bumps, though.

Actually, I think Tab Mix Plus may be giving me some problems (mainly a slow startup), but I don't know for sure. I did still get a slow startup when disabling it once.

I am not sure if you are still looking for compatability info, but just in case. I just upgraded to FF1.5 (production for the Mac OSX 10.3.9) and justblogit(Ver .2 from the developers site) will not install. The install process fails saying that it does not work with this version. The msg claims that it will only work with Ver .9 to 1.0

Recently I came to firefox 1.5 and I found a problem using Yahoo! Easy photos uploader. This is about the drag n drop property of firefox. When I drop a jpg pic inside the tool for upload the page opens the image but it doesn't put it on the list. I tried to use the "select photos..." button but it doesn't make anything. Can you help me please, I use this tool a lot.

Posted by: Alexander at February 26, 2006 7:50 AM

I have a problem with TabBrowser preferences, tab focus working on 1.5. It only seems to work if i hover between the two tabs, not the whole tab.

ionolsen25 Hello Jane, great site!

Posted by: nervotrepka at October 22, 2006 10:48 AM

YES! Its 'vsmon' that caused the problem for me!

Firefox stopped finding any websites after it automatically updated, so I found the answer on this page just now!

Even though zone alarm wasnt running, vsmon was in ctrl-alt-del list, I couldnt close it, so I just opened zone alarm, and it said firefox is trying to access the net....I click ok and bingo, I have firefox back with all my settings without a tiresome uninstall and loss of info.

Thankyou 'Harlan'! Phil :-)

Note that in some cases the authors might not have gotten around to making their extension compatible, so we don't need bugs filed on all of these items. We would just like you to test and provide feedback as to whether the extension is working properly and whether it is compatible
