Seeking input -1.5 release notes
We are in the midst of putting together the release notes for 1.5, and we know there are some bugs that have an easy workaround (such as disabling an extension or plugin, for example), or ones that will targeted for a fix after this release. A good example is https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=314755. If there are any bugs that you would like to cast your vote for in this category, please let us know so we can make sure the most critical/visible ones are included in the official release notes.
You can do a query in Bugzilla with the keyword "relnote", but not all of the items may be captured in this query.
**Please note that we are not looking for features, etc that did not make this release. As always, thanks for your input.

This isn't new to this release, but could you please include a note that some firewalls (NIS) will automatically silently block the new application? It's the #1 support issue in the forums for users who have upgraded.

This is a critical bug for Mac users who also use certain international keyboard layouts (e.g. Hebrew). Notice that the problem does not only occur on pages with Java, but persists until the browser is shut down, after such a page is visited.
Workaround is to install a later version of JEP (see comment 17 for details).

One thing that really should be in release notes, is how to fix the menus for people on Win 98, 2000, ME, XP (non Luna).

Please put something in the release notes about the Windows skin changes (i.e. non-natively acommodating Luna). This is bound to hit the support forums and I don't think any one of us wants to reply "it's by design" day in and day out.
I don't think mainstream users will complain (or possibly notice) but there'll be enough people to keep things irritatingly constant.

It would be good to note that updating from 1.0.x to 1.5 can be a one way trip for your profile - trying use 1.0.x afterwards will result in the browser not loading properly.

No shortcut to the profile manager in the startmenue of Firefox 1.5, only "firefox" and "firefox (safe mode)". :(
In Thunderbird u will find besides this a shortcut to "...(profile manager)".
Is this forgotten in Firefox? Is there a serious reason? IMHO is this a blunder, because a lot of problems seen in supportforums u can solve by starting the profile manager. The workaround "Go to start>run>"%ProgramFiles%\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p" is difficult for common users who ask for help in forums.
So please publish a workaround to make a shortcut to the desktop like this (here: German version in FirefoxWiki):

a few bugs i found in testday (i was tester11):
a) small issue: when clicking middle button on a menu item, the menu disappers, but their top menu is still marked.
b) medium issue: when clicking in the "go" menu with the middle mouse on the home item, it doesnt do anything (should open home url in a new tab).
c) big issue: after doing #6 in http://testrunner.mozilla.org/test.cgi#2430 when reloading the pdf, it saves it to a file, but when i change the option back to use the adobe plugin, it still wants to save file instead of opening it in-browser.
d) small issue: when going to a middle of a page, click file-> print preview, closing, it goes back to the begining of a page.
e) medium issue: http://www.hixie.ch/tests/adhoc/dom/web-apps/XMLHttpRequest/ (not all worked in rc3).
f) unknown issue:
go to options->content->block popupwindow -> allwoed sites -> just press enter. it adds scheme:http to the list (doesnt explain what it is).
sorry that i dont have time to check/open bugzilla reports for them, but this is the least i could do.

But if you open the page with the FF there will no calc.exe be started, but the browser hangs too (FF1.5RC3).

Not a bug really, but I feel there should be a note on the Download Page for Firefox 1.5, for those that happen to go there, that they should switch to the 'Default' theme before upgrading/installing. Then once they have 1.5 working, check and see if their favorite themes are updated for Firefox 1.5
There is going to be enough fall-out from extensions that themes should not compound the issue.

YES! Its 'vsmon' that caused the problem for me!
Firefox stopped finding any websites after it automatically updated, so I found the answer on this page just now!
Even though zone alarm wasnt running, vsmon was in ctrl-alt-del list, I couldnt close it, so I just opened zone alarm, and it said firefox is trying to access the net....I click ok and bingo, I have firefox back with all my settings without a tiresome uninstall and loss of info.

Note that in some cases the authors might not have gotten around to making their extension compatible, so we don't need bugs filed on all of these items. We would just like you to test and provide feedback as to whether the extension is working properly and whether it is compatible
