Mozilla Quality

Note bug 294201. It appears to be due to them relying on a recently fixed Firefox layout bug.

I've posted comments in bug 294201. It appears to be caused by the changes made in bug 216303, but since those changes actually made Gecko better conform to the specifications, AmericanExpress.com need to correct their site so that it doesn't rely on broken behavior.

It's a shame I did know someone who was contracting in the UK on the amex website QA team but his contract was up about a month before this bug started showing up in the nightlies.

I will certainly see if he can contact someone there he worked with to give them a heads up. They certainly do test with Firefox there but they may only use the released versions by default.

FYI it doesn't seem to affect the US site but it does affect the UK site and some other countries. The easiest way to enter the uk site is via americanexpress.co.uk which will redirect you to the UK part of the amex web site, to see the bug click on one of the links across the top (e.g. Travel) and wait until the page is fully loaded.

This also reminded me of another weird bug (as I use my Amex card to collect frequent flyer points). Members of the KLM and Air France flying blue program may see times where the page just appears to be continually loading and nothing displayed on the page.

This is intermittent, if you hit stop and reload the page a few times it usually works fine, I thought it must have been high demand on the server because it always worked eventually, but then I tried in IE and it worked all the time.

If anyone has the time to investigate this now then I'd be interested to know the results, is it a badly configured server or a bug in Mozilla's HTTP handling?

Points to note:
1. It only seems to affect Air France hosted pages, pages on klm.com work fine, however KLM users are still often hit by the bug because a lot of the flying blue info is actually displayed from the Air France site within a frame on KLM's site.
2. The easiest way to see the bug is to go to http://www.airfrance.com/uk and the click on the Flying Blue banner along the top (or if you've blocked that banner from the Frequent Flyer menu item on the left) the page that pops up will display an air france banner along the top and then the page will constantly try to keep loading a frame from airfrance.fr although sometimes you can hit lucky and the page will load first time, it is very rare for this to happen.
3. Hitting stop and then reload will cause the page to eventually appear.
