Is this just for en-US?

Is this any different to the last time this was blogged about, or are we going to get to test the partial update aspect of the new system now?

An alert and a warning about the certificate (but not a shock, especially considering the domain). An unstyled "Details" link (it looked like plain text, but I clicked anyway) opened only a blank window.

Otherwise, it went quite well! Now up to:

I actually just revised the post. Next week's testing will be focused on performing a set of positive and negative tests to ensure that all the components of software update are working as expected. I took down the instructions for now until we get everything sorted out on our end.

I forgot to mention that the alert and the certificate warning are expected.

will port 8711 being used for final release ?

there could be some filter/proxy issues with 3rd-party apps.

I will have to find out about the port issue - not sure at this point.

Marcia, I've been using the software update system for a couple of weeks now and it works really well. The only thing missing is the smaller downloads, we're still getting 5.9mb updates.

Any ideas when this is going to be sorted out? Currently updating requires larger binaries than downloading fresh installers.

Hey, don't know if it's a problem with everyone, but somehow DP is telling me my download is "Paused" and the resume button is greyed out and details link isn't yet working - just thought I'd let someone know, don't want to make it a bug if it's just local here.

I can't seem to "unpause" it.

The FULL update system is pretty good, although the "Update already downloaded, restart now or later" dialog looks horrible.

There is at least one main (known) Problem with Update that you run into when trying to Update while the mirrors are not 100% ready (only in the first 30 minutes that the Daily is out).
Thats Bug 300089 - if the update check process stalls, and update window closed, deer park hangs on next attempt "paused"

Hoping to prevent duplicates...

Seems you just hit the mentioned bug ;)
Try deleting updates.xml and active-update.xml in your Firefox Application directory and you should be well...

I've had great success with the updates for DP itself.

My present build:

It is stable enough to use as my every day browser.

I'm still a bit put off by the change in the Tools/Options/Advanced/My Extensions And Themes/Check Now... function.

I feel the progress window that was taken away was far superior to what we have now (present method's interface is confusing, and doesn't give enough information) but I have already mentioned this in the forums on MozillaZine and I understand that this is being debated and worked on.

Keep up the good work and please count me in on community testing :)

Update is still not working for me. It goes through all the steps like it should be updating but when I'm prompted to restart and click the restart button, nothing happens. The update history shows it perpetually stuck in "Install Pending".

There are reports of Updates downloading the right files but then failing to do the update itself upon restart when Deer Parc is installed in an folder with spaces in the name.
This should be watched closely before 1.5 ships.

AND PLEASE! Someone should delete the linkspam above! Mozillazine.org should not allow such practices that most search engines consider illegal.
Someone has to check here regularly...
