This is what passes for "tech news"?!
I honestly don't know why I even load Slashdot anymore.
I tried to make the change to kuro5hin when I tired (some years ago, now) of Slashdork's continued duplicates and awful spelling and grammar—talk about needing an editor—but it didn't take.
What do the cool kids read for their tech news fix these days?
(Do not say "Digg." Digg is on my s#!+ list for being the main reason I personally have had to do a bunch of extra [release] work due to people "digging" "news" that software has been released when it hasn't been... which brings into question the validity of anything that's "dugged." Also, there's no [easy] past tense of "digg.")
Comments
The past tense is "dugg". If you don't like the story, bury it.

You can always go to the BBC web site for tech news: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/default.stm
I think that the past tense of "digg" should be "dug(g)". "This story received 100 diggs" would become "This story was dug 100 times".

I read reddit (www.reddit.com) and reddit programming (programming.reddit.com) for most of my tech news.
It isn't like good old chronological news, but in time -- if something is interesting enough, you can be sure to read it.
Reddit is a bit more diverse than digg, in that it also includes politics and other things, a bit like slashdot.

If you haven't tried http://techdirt.com/ , you should. It has some of the best written articles on the web.

The Register gets my vote: http://www.theregister.co.uk
(.uk domain, but they have about as many US reporters as UK)

Ars is great, but I also like Erik's Linkblog: http://erik.thauvin.net/linkblog/
He tends to cover the stuff Slashdot does without the pointless commentary.

couple of months late reading this, but if it's ever checked back on, I tend to check newsforge, Dailytech For Intel News, Sharikou for AMD news and corrections of Dailytech stories, HardOCP, and XbitLabs.
