Live at the Fillmore

Two things of note for my first week in California. One more week to go.

The first being my very first concert at the Fillmore in SF. Wow, talk about awesome. There is so much history there, including a huge Who poster in the main lobby and another one behind the upstairs bar (from the night Keith Moon passed out on-stage and was replaced mid-show by an audience member). I was as giddy as a school girl, even more so than normal. The venue itself is really small, much smaller than I ever would have expected from seeing concerts recorded there. Maybe there was more upstairs seating in the 60s/70s, but the floor really is tiny.

I saw The Fratellis, who I quite enjoyed. They were featured in an iTunes TV ad, so you've for sure heard them even if you don't place the name. They played for about an hour or so and were really good. I was surprised. I was also surprised by the number of 13-year-old girls there, with chaperoning parents standing at the sides. We were in the fifth row of teenagers on the floor, probably the oldest people by 20 years for the first 10 rows. I've never felt so awkward holding a beer. I also discovered that The Fratellis had an impromptu visit from Pete Townshend during SXSW, playing The Seeker on stage with them. Um, wow!

The other thing of note was the Camino Convergence at MoFo this weekend. Two full days of slides, discussion, and happenings. We did things like create a mission statement for the project, talk about 1.6 and 2.0 features (with an eye on realistic goals for shipping sooner rather than later), and talked about some of the changes we'll have to make moving forward with the new Ff tree changes. I think I talked for about 10 hours spread over two days. I guess I did have enough slides ;) A good time was had by all. Notes from the two-day event should be up on our wiki, but I couldn't find them. Thanks to MoCo for providing space and covering lunch both days. It was great to meet most of the key contributors face-to-face. I hope we can do this again next year!!!
