Why I hate ABC

ABC should really take their cue on how to do HD football from CBS. While the game looked great, the majority of their portable on-the-field cameras were standard def, 4x3. Not only that, every one of the graphics was 4x3. How hard is it to think about widescreen when you're designing the graphics?! Even Fox gets it right on their widescreen games!

Then there's my local affiliate, WJLA. You could tell whenever they switched back to the local feed because the sound would drop 10db and two little blinking dashes would appear in the upper right and left. As if that wasn't bad enough, nine times out of ten, the engineers at the production desk would forget to switch back to the HD feed until midway through the first play back from a commercial. It's as if they were too busy playing cards or smoking dope to notice the game had started again.

It's obvious to me that not a single member of the Super Bowl production team ever saw a HD broadcast, or even one of Fox's faux widescreen broadcasts. I hope this isn't what we have to look forward to for Monday Night Football in the coming years.
