Pinkerton has moved.

Pinkerton has moved. Yeah, I'm sick of blogger and kerz did all the heavy-lifting, so here I am. Now I can have fanboys leave me comments about having my babies just like jinglepants!

I've added a new RSS feed with the full text at indexf.rdf.

Little Request,
It would be nice if you could you modify your index.xml or index.rdf template to include the full posts instead of the first sentance or two. It would make it easier to read in RSS readers.

Leave the lightweight "description-only" feeds alone and create a separate "full-content" feed for them that wants it.

Posted by: Jacques Distler on January 23, 2003 09:54 PM

Hm, two feeds is cool. I will be adding your journal to my journals page at http://news.tnir.org/blogs.html if you don't mind. If you do, drop me a line and I'll yank it.

Posted by: Reid on January 23, 2003 10:27 PM

I guess I'm being rude to the dialup users by asking for those big feeds :). Yes, two feeds would be ideal.

Posted by: Jeff Hume on January 23, 2003 10:32 PM

By the way, If you want to make it show the whole body of the post you need to change this tag:

to this:

Methinks your HTML has been stripped out.. try using [] instead of <>, or < and >

Great, now you have fully joined the cadre of Mac/MT/Chimera users that seems to be ever growing these days. You'll dig comments! I sure do. And, officially, I'm now going to syndicate your blog on my blog. And yes, please keep the short description feed, and add a second feed for people who want the whole articles! I prefer to syndicate the descriptions feeds, so people get a li'l taste of your entry, and then they can go to your actual site to see the whole thing. Saves us all a lot of trouble.

You can have MY baby bish. ;)

Great work on Chimera so far. I am still using it about 60% of the time, but Safari is just growing on me. Living without tabs hasn't been as hard as I previously thought, but they still need to add them.

Oh yeah, the school in Texas are quite good. The funding that special programs get in Texas is spectacular. I went to high school in NC and was shocked at the poor teacher pay, the lack of funding, and the overall apathetic attitudes about the state of education.

User Assistance. This is helping the user with the proper "next step" when performing a task. Less guesswork for the user on what to do next makes for a better experience.

Due to the positioning of the Dock, remember that when you build an application, you have to be sure that new document window sizes and positions do not violate the Dock's space. Dock is temperamental and Dock loves his space. If you default to a window size that expands behind the dock, users will have a difficult time reaching the navigation and resize areas at the bottom of the screen. I can personally say that more than once I have been rather peeved that I couldn't get to an area of the window to resize because the default window settings always pop up behind the Dock. In addition, the new Dock in 10.1 will allow users to position their Dock location on either side of the screen as well.

Adhere to System Appearance. Does your application use all the sweetly colored buttons, delightfully shaded windows, and all the other "bells and whistles?"
