I too have been subjected to some email abuse as a result of a problem between Pinball, Firefox and update.mozilla.org. We had the Mac version up on the main page and people did not read the description with its "Mac OSX only" disclaimer, installed it on Windows and screwed up their 'fox. The fault can be spread around a bit (Fx for having differing OS themes, UMO for permitting only one version on the main page / not checking for end-user OS, us for putting the OSX version up on the main page) but I got the abuse that Pinball sucked. Sigh. I also keep getting requests to support Pinball for TB despite a statement on my Pinball page that I won't.

Speaking of arrogance...

In the same vein, doing a simple Google search on "thunderbird signatures" brings up a number of pages that this person would have found useful, if they had bothered to check.

Explain again what part of that he saw as arrogant? Seems to me like you're just covering the basics to ensure you don't receive a million and one "support emails" for a product you don't work tech support on anyway.

It's just amazing how many people (A) don't read, (B) DO read but just ignore, and (C) don't care.

That person, besides not being able to search, isn't polite at all and doesn't know the meaning of the word arrogant.
If he uses Firefox, he could just write
dict arrogant
in the adress bar...
Or is he an ex-user of Firefox?

Yeah, I've been there too over Bugzilla, rather than email.

Just a suggestion, it would be cool if your entire posts were syndicated over to planet rather than just the little blurbs. :)
