The fact of the matter is that I used to tell my friends in Europe that the actual president didn't have the electoral vote, that he wasn't popular in his actions, in other words his voice wasn't the one of the majority of the population. Things seem to have changed now: with the electoral vote and possibly a fairly solid victory, I will need to say that the majority of americans wants to be the way they have been in the past 4 years (with space for ""improvements""). I have no elements to try and defend it.
On a different note: what went wrong in the democratic party? Is it my impression or they lost the touch with the people? Is it only a matter of ideology (abortion, gay marriage...)that made the difference?
