To me, they don't look like a printer, but like a first aid box. Or a toaster. Whatever.
Posted by Axel Hecht at June 8, 2004 3:21 PMi still don't like them ... the "web page" is still more important (bigger) than the Tab ...
Posted by kwanbis at June 8, 2004 4:14 PMI still could not identify this as a tab... sorry...
Posted by Bibbl at June 8, 2004 4:30 PMBetter, definitely. Not good though.
Posted by Greg K Nicholson at June 8, 2004 4:34 PMBoth are ok to me.
By the way, the new button should be placed in the tab bar like Seamonkey (not currently possible in Firefox 0.8), not in any other customized toolbars...
Hi David,
even my first reaction to the new tab icon was that it must represent a printer.
I like your proposed change.

Posted by Jay Sheth at June 8, 2004 7:24 PMNow somone said it looks like a toaster i'll never be able to look at it and not think toast 5-:
I do prefer this one though over the other
Posted by Chris at June 8, 2004 9:10 PMThe right one looks better. Unfortunately the tab becomes smaller and not as easy to see/identify. The old one does look like a printer though...
Personally, I use Ctrl-T a lot and almost never use the button - I'd rather if it wasn't there!
Posted by John at June 10, 2004 3:57 PMWhat about the taskbar icon - i got nothing showing up - it shows up for mozilla but not firefox, i just see a windows icon. does anyone else have this?
Posted by Teddy at June 10, 2004 11:13 PMI agree with John. CTRL+T is my preferred method, and the new tab button should certainly not be a forced button in the tab bar. If anything, it should be a preference.
Posted by Jafe Mourner at June 11, 2004 12:59 AMTeddy, you're probably using Firefox on Windows 9x/Me. The fact that the window has a Windows icon is a known issue, and I hope it'll get fixed for the 1.0 release, since it's pretty disturbing aesthetically.
Posted by Markus Lindström at June 11, 2004 10:14 PMI like the first one actually. The old one. I like having the tab big and in the center
