So I guess you won't be implementing joystick support in Safari then? ;-)
Posted by Alex Bishop at March 18, 2003 4:47 AMI've been trying to get Kingdom Hearts for quite a while, but I don't have enough money. And I don't think I'll get enough money soon, I'm spening my money on both Zelda and Xenosaga before buying Kingdom Hearts...It's nice to hear someone bash games that I want, but can't get :P
Posted by neop at March 18, 2003 12:34 PMBah. Kingdom Hearts rocks. I love the joystick. Why don't you go look for a third-party controller with a joystick that suits you better? There's probably one somewhere.
Oh, and once you learn how to actually fight /well/, you don't button mash :P
And neop, this is why I have a brother. We split the costs on games :D
Posted by Kevin at March 18, 2003 1:00 PMHrm, speaking of games, anybody here tried Skies of Arcadia for the Game Cube? My brother just found it and I immediately purchased it (it should come in the next day or two). I remember Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast (alas, poor Dreamcast, I knew him well), and the game ROCKED. I loved that game! But the Dreamcast belongs to my older brother who's off at college (I'm a senior in HS, FYI), so I can't play it anymore. But now that it's been released for the GameCube (with, apparently, minor changes), I can play it (well, once it arrives)! I highly suggest you all go purchase it, because that game just rocks my world. I've beaten it once already, and I'm still buying it so I can play it again.
Posted by Kevin at March 18, 2003 1:02 PMI also love Skies of Arcadia, I haven't got the Gamecube version(again because of the lack of money), but the dreamcast version is really great, I think that everyone with a Gamecube and without a Dreamcast should buy it.
Posted by neop at March 18, 2003 1:27 PMSkies of Arcadia looks quite cool and is on my list of games to check out. I have to say, I keep being happier and happier that I got a Gamecube.
As far as other PS2 games, I've been grooving on Dark Cloud 2. I also enjoyed the first one, despite its flaws, and think the second did a lot to get rid of many of them. Right now I'm around 68 hours into the game and think I must have a good 10 more hours at least.
Give it another shot...trust me, it only gets better as the game goes on. Kingdom Hearts is wonderful, especially if you're a fan of Disney's animated movies.
If you *do* keep going, do yourself a favor and get all those dalmatians. The bonus ending's well worth it. :)
Posted by jason at March 18, 2003 3:40 PMjason - the gummis are worth it.
I got all the dalmations and beat hades cup (the 2 requirements for the special ending) before winning, so I never saw the original ending. What's the difference? Is it just missing that weird stuff at the end, or is it actually different?
Oh, and even though I'm not a huge fan of Disney's animated movies, Kingdom Hearts ROCKS. I thought it would be a truly unholy game until I tried it, but it's great.
Posted by Kevin at March 18, 2003 4:58 PMSkies of Arcadia for the Dreamcast is an awesome game! Not sure if I'll buy the GameCube version but I'll certainly give it a look. I'm still playing FFT-A but before that, I was playing Kingdom Hearts which is a very interesting match between Square characters and Disney ones. The voice acting is pretty good too. I had the same problems with the controls, but I think it was the (lack of) good camera angles that was really frustrating for me. Maybe I'll go back to it after FFT-A.
Posted by Richie at March 18, 2003 5:08 PMSkies of Arcadia looked interesting. I noticed Gamespot gave it a good review. Is it like Final Fantasy and Xenosaga? How dated is the game?
Posted by hyatt at March 18, 2003 5:44 PMSkies of Arcadia came out for Dreamcast a few years ago, and it ROCKS! The graphics were great, the controls were great, it's a great RPG, and it simply gets better as you go along the game. It's just a truly awesome game.
Oh, and Richie, where'd you get FFT-A? After hearing it mentioned, I looked on the web but all I found was a japanese site. Is it a japanese-only game, or is there just a conspiracy against me?
Posted by Kevin at March 18, 2003 5:58 PMThe gummis? I never bothered upgrading my ship at all...I thought that was just pointless.
But yeah, that extra CGI at the end (the really crazy stuff) was the bonus ending.
Re: FFTA -- it's out in Japan. You can get it at any import shop, or wait a few months for it to come out here.
Posted by jason at March 18, 2003 6:53 PMKevin: there's no conspiracy against you. :) It's as Jason says - it's only out in Japan and there should be a domestic version out this year. The J-version is available at any online import shop like www.yesasia.com or www.toysnjoys.com.
once you get good at fighting it's no longer button mashing, and i've found that using the right joystick for other command selection (mostly just items and special attacks) is best while using shortcuts for spells.
it takes some getting used to,
Posted by je_apostrophe at March 19, 2003 9:27 AMMan, I love FFT, I can't wait for FFT-A.
This is just one more reason why I need to learn Japanese.

Posted by brent at April 22, 2003 12:44 PMI want to see the bonus ending for kingdom hears, I already got all the puppies, now what do i do?
The requirements for seeing the special ending are as follows...
-Following taken from Official Strategy Guide-
1: Seal ALL KEYHOLES, including the Coliseum.
2: Rescue ALL PUPPIES. You need to visit the Dalmatians' house after this for it to count.
