Working in the community to spread Firefox

When people find out I work for Mozilla, I usually get two reactions (1) Cool, and (2) Can you help me with some computer issues I am having? I work out at the JCC in Los Gatos, and a few of the women in my exercise class asked if they could bring their laptops in so I could help them set up Firefox. Rather than have individual sessions with each of them, I decided to offer a free Firefox workshop at the JCC in August so that I could cover a wider audience. If the session on August 23rd goes well, there will be an opportunity for future sessions. The target audience for this first session will likely be an older audience that is not as familiar with computers.

Asa and I discussed this, and we think it would be great if everyone in our organization got out into the community and did this type of evangelism - it gets more people using Firefox and spreading the word. I plan to have some CDs available to hand out, so if attendees want to get their friends up and running who might have a slow Internet connection, it will be easy for them to pop in a CD and get started.
