Post Firefox1.0 Thoughts

In the not too distant past I was faced with a difficult decision – after contracting for several months, the company I was working for was poised to make me an offer to come onboard in a newly created role. Before I ever even saw the offer, I made the decision to come and work alongside members of the Mozilla Foundation to help make Firefox 1.0 and Thunderbird 1.0 a reality. It is a decision I will never regret – I have been privileged to work with some of the best talent around. And not just great engineers – but great human beings. Everyone who worked to ship Firefox 1.0 poured their heart and soul into the project – many late nights and contributions from so many people around the globe – too many to name in this post [you know who you are]. Congratulations to everyone on a tremendous accomplishment.

Ever since I left Netscape, I have always believed that Gecko was ready for prime time. I have always believed in mozilla.org and the potential for open source. Now that Firefox 1.0 has been unleashed on the world, I suspect there will be a lot of other people who will also see the light. And with Thunderbird 1.0 lurking in the shadows, it might be a good time to run for cover.

I can hardly wait for 2.0.

Hey Marcia,
you forgot that we need to get thru TB 1.0, too.

Lot's of work to do before we can think 2.0 again.

Taht's right. I agree with Axel, we're waiting for TB 1.0! There's far more things to improve/add/tweak, etc. in TB. Btw., what's the best palace to share my ideas on how to improve TB? Also, how about marekting initivatives regarding TB 1.0? IMO, there's far lower penetration of TB in the world than the one of FF. We need Outlook switch program too!

How do you dial out to International again? ;-)

You wouldn't have liked that other company anyhow. I mean it's just one website. We get to play with several billion.
