End of Support for Netscape web browsers - The Netscape Blog
After nearly a decade under AOL's wing (or squashed under its butt, depending on who you talk to), AOL is finally killing off the Netscape browser. As of March 1st, Navigator is dead. Now, you could argue that Navigator was killed by itself, in a way, by Firefox's success. But those of us who've been around this past ten years have seen the neglect from AOL, the irreparable damage Netscape 6 - released too early and thus with bugs and sluggish performance - and the raking of Netscape.com through the mud with the whole Propeller snafu, not to mention the current Netscape.com, which is little more than a cobranded AOL.com...
Personally I'm thankful AOL spun off Mozilla before they finally destroyed it, too.
