Looking for volunteers!

It's been a while since I've blogged, so I figure this would be the place to put this.... We're looking for volunteers! MozillaZine is currently looking for a number volunteers to help out. We're looking for folks who are interested in editing and posting news to the front page, supporting users in the forums, and doing some behind the scenes work (we're tired of logging in to more than one site, just like I'm sure you are...). If you're interested, reply here with what sort of area you're interested in helping out on. Thanks!

I can help with editing news and stuff. I am a born news junkie.. :(

my email is ramble@gmail.com

Posted by: RC at September 28, 2004 12:48 PM

I've already volunteered in the forum thread, but I guess there's no harm in volunteering again here. Despite a CS degree, my coding/web skills aren't great, and I think I'd prefer to stick to the kind of "second line" support I mostly do now (builds forum rather than support forum), but I would be interested in editing and posting news. I do a fair amount of editing and proofreading for the publications and website of the organisation I work for.

Posted by: michaell at September 28, 2004 3:59 PM

I'm not a professional by any means, though I will be eventually (I'm a second year computer science student), but I'm always looking out for new ways to help out the Mozilla community. I can do HTML, I'm a proficient writer, and I'm always willing to provide user support. If you're interested in any of those skills, you can contact me at mozilla AT danielross DOT org .

I can help out with any of the admin stuff. I am an artist by trait, and a self taught novice computer guy.

Posted by: Joshua at September 29, 2004 4:31 PM

I am interesting in helping out, just shoot me an email.

Posted by: Flora at September 29, 2004 8:55 PM

I'm interested too, I'm not fantastic at coding , but will see what I can do. I can do some simple design, posting of news, coding and troubleshooting. Mail me :)

I can help with technical and semi-technical issues. I have a Masters in IT, from Capella, which prepared me more to be a manager of IT than a world-class programmer. My current usual employment is as a technology evengelist for my company and its partners and associates. I can do interviews, write articles, I enjoy speaking in public, and usually have more questions than answers.

I came here today because I have a question about what kind of code is required on a page to make FireFox display the little box with the letters RSS in it in the lower right hand corner.

I know people who are developing RSS channels but their sites do not trigger this box to appear. CNet and The main page of this domain do, and that sort of thing interests me.

Posted by: Wolf Halton at October 7, 2004 11:04 AM

I use Fire fox but I am a virtual luddite. I do a lot of writing in conjunction with my job. I could do a luddite blog chronicling my experience or test new versions for being idiot proof.

I'd be enthralled if I were allowed to help. I love Mozilla, I'm addicted to FireFox, not to mention I'm available every night and all day on the weekends. I'm a writer and a webdesigner by nature, but I'm a little new to advanced scripts. (cgi, php, etc.)

Hey. I'm from the Philippines. I discovered Firefox early this year, have been using it ever since, and promptly 'pushed' it at work and to my friends wherever I can. I do a bit of writing and editing on the side, but mostly now I do Linux (whatever that means).

I'd be very glad to help. There is a burgeoning open source community here in the Philippines, and it would be great to contribute to the effort.

Hi,
This is Shyaam Sundhar and my specialization is information security. Since I have been working with Mozilla's PKCS#11 certificates and the CSP and the PKI's , I shall be able to help in the forums and news related to that. If any guys wishes to start Mozilla's local activity, please do let me know. Let us start a Public Forum for the Washington DC, Virginia and the Maryland community at DC. I shall take care of arranging the meetings regularly so that we could have a flow in the projects as well as some good ideas in the news.
I can also write technical papers if anyone would assist. I am presently working as a research associate at the Cyber Security Policy and Research Institute(CSPRI).
Thank you

    ::  a damn good (self-trained) graphic designer,
::  a decent copy editor (English only, unfortunately),
::  good at explaining computers and other technical things,
::  some experience (again, self-taught) with HTML and CSS,
::  using Firefox on both Windows and Linux, and
::  unemployed, with much time on my hands!

I am a long-time Opera user (since v2.4 or so). Firefox is the first browser in years to actually excite me like Opera did.

I've been watching on about some year considering Mozilla's newcomer browsers. I tested some of the newest versions(at the present time then, spring 2004), both of them
(Moz. 1.7x and FF 0.8 - 0.9) with such good results. Thorough, the test targets (that mean processors & the hardware otherwise) were more than old-timers. I got to run the very first version system of Pentium 1- series with such pathetic speed of 75 MHz. Layout of imaging was, however the biggest problem. That wasn't a big surprise. The other big problem was logging onto e-mail subsystems. Shockwave presentations were too hard bit to old machines. The datasystems under testing process were (dont't bark me) W95 and W98.
Otherwise, I have to salute new browsers. Usability of those webbing usage programs, they are very great object to me.
I think that the name 'Firefox', has no reason to call it 'FiFo', because it's a real 'LoFi' browser.
As well as someone knows, FiFo means 'first in, first out' ans Fofi mean also 'Last out, first in'. That's just like I wondered. I can only say, the Moz. and FF browsers were born under the lucky stars. =c))

Posted by: ABamann at November 29, 2004 6:48 AM

I'm sorry about bad correcting. You can see that what I mend, was truly: 'LoFi'. By meaning 'Low Fidelity', no way! =cD
So, I would be one of testing person as a web-browsing system developer. *:c?*

I'm a retired IT and have more time than money. I love All Things Mozilla and will help where ever I can. I've speaking to the computer clubs down here in the tip of Texas and showing them the attributes of the new software. The Opera guys always want to talk about speed so we ran some tests. On ADSL we are the same speed in all things. And when I show them the Adblock extension that kills those annoying motion ads - everyone shut up and started listening. Love doing that!

Posted by: Pete Wenham at December 23, 2004 3:09 AM

I've been helping out in the forums since I got up to speed on Firefox and Thunderbird in October. I'm looking to up my level of involvement.

My personal system is largely MS-free. XPHome and MSMoney are the only things I use for home that bear the MS moniker.

I'm very impressed with the Mozilla family.

I've been a technologist (or "geek" as my 11-year old calls me) since 1979. I've seen a lot of good and bad software in that time.

My time can be a little hit or miss, depending on the consulting assignment. I spent some time moderating an OpenOffice.org mail list a while back.

However, I'm willing to dive in a little deeper. Let me know how I can help.
