Now I know one reason why some companies are so keen to get on the Bugzilla Installation List :-)
According to the PageRank checker, the PageRank of http://www.bugzilla.org/installation-list/ is:
If you feel like being nasty, you can add rel="nofollow" to the links, so Google won't take the link into account when calculating their PageRank :-)

Looking at some entries in the list, you probably wouldn't be nasty, but just cleaning up a bit...
What exactly is necessary for getting listed? Is a simple mail "Hi, we use Bugzilla, please link to ..." enough?

Yes, normally it just requires an email, but the request must be credible. "Super Vi@gra Marketing Inc. uses Bugzilla!" is likely to be treated with a fair degree of scepticism.
The list is cleaned up occasionally by checking for dead links but, if a company has told us they use Bugzilla internally, we can't ever know if they stop unless they tell us.
