AOL - Killer Of Innovators

First Compuserve (now an ISP offered to AOL users who want to leave at a huge discount), then Netscape (now an ISP) and now Nullsoft. Ironically, Nullsoft was reminding me of Netscape - a hyped but crappy release (Winamp 3) and a last ditch jumping over a release number (Winamp 5 vs NS6).

Is Mapquest next?

Now we can only hope that Nullsoft continues to follow Netscape and the Winamp code gets released as open-source :P

Netscape was hurting, but it was still doing good buisness. Sun's most profitable buisness, middleware, is all Netscape software. The browser group was having problems and loosing marketshare, true, but other parts seemed to be doing well.
