Googlize your Mozilla

I am open sourcing my Google Toolbar, which was developed at Netscape. It works with Mozilla 1.0-1.4 (NS7.0-7.1), and NOT firebird.

Beta version at http://nexgenmedia.net/google.xpi. It has an uninstaller even :) Be sure to restart the browser after installing it.

Once nice feature is, type something in the search box and ctrl-enter, opens the search results in a new tab.

It behaves and looks like the IE google toolbar.

Call me silly - I installed it on 1.4 but I'm not seeing it, nor can I figure out any menu option to see that it's even an option to show.

Guidance?

Disregard my previous post. Restarted all instances of Mozilla and it appeared.

Looks great! The Google bar was one of the main draws for me using IE..

It took me under 5 minutes to modify it to "work" in firebird, so if you have the prerequisite skills, it shouldn't be too difficult for you to hook it up.

If I did more than 30 seconds of testing on it, I'd submit patches.

Its probably easy to do (change the overlay file to contain browser.xul)

Third time that's happened now... I swear, we need to blackmail/hire a publicist. Greetings from the Googlebar project on mozdev, anyway.

We've been working on a similar idea for a little more than a year and a half, and while for some reason I can't get yours to install onto Moz 1.3/ Win98 right now, I'd be interested in seeing a comparison between the two projects- it might be that we could share code.

If you're interested, post a note to Mozdev bug number 3932, where we're currently discussing things to put in the next version (among other things, including tax law, vacuum cleaners, and where to get a free turkey sandwich: we're very informal). Attached is the newest XPI of our work, so give it a try (the latest attachment is pretty safe) and we'd be glad to hear from you.
