Status for the week of 2006-01-23
Lightning
- Sorted out home for view preferences in discussion with mvl and jminta.
- Iterated through patches for bug about day/week views not respecting start and end time preferences and landed the final fix (bug 321769)
- Made a review pass through the code that is intended to calculate the week number (bug 319790)
- After discussion with mvl and jminta, decided that 0.1 could reasonably ship if it doesn't lose data when editing Lightning-generated ICS. This allowed a whole bunch of 0.1-blocker bugs to be postponed until after 0.1. Did lots of bug triage and updated the Lightning roadmap with a target release of February 2006.
- Reviewed and landed workaround fix for editing of remote calendar location not being sticky (bug 315307)
- Discussed possible SQLite addressbook futures with Standard8, bienvenu, and myk

A Good UI Book
A while ago, I asked beltzner if he could recommend one book about user interface to me, what it would be. He suggested User Interface Design For Programmers by Joel Spolsky. I just finished it; great stuff. Very easy to read, and lots of good concepts and concrete examples. Highly recommended.

Economics of Open Source
I really like this article about the economics of open source software:
ONLamp.com: There Is No Open Source Community
I think that the headline is not really indicative of what the article is mostly about, and I'm not even particularly convinced it's true. But most of the low-level econonic reasoning seems solid.
