London was great
I'm back from our trip to London! Actually, we came home on Tuesday, but I haven't had time to upload the photos to the computer until now. (I got to borrow my mom's soon-to-be husband's camera, haven't bought my own yet.)
We had a great time, although we really didn't do much. Shopping, drinking, walking (lots of walking), and more drinking. London is a nice city to visit. In a way, it feels like you're travelling back in time when comparing to Sweden. Everything just looks older! Buildings, taxis, buses, even toilets look like they were made 30-60 years ago. The people in London are really nice, helpful and polite. I wish I got more time to talk to them, most of the time we were just asking for directions. :)
We stayed at a hotel called Rhodes Hotel at Sussex Gardens and shared the room with Björn and Linda, co-workers of mine, who also went to London this weekend (which is why Sofie and I decided to take this trip on such a short notice).
I promised I would put up some pictures here on the blog. Actually, I didn't use the camera as much as I'd want to, so this is basically all the pictures that were taken. I also filmed some pointless video clips from the mobile phone, but the quality of them is so poor, it's not worth putting them up.

I thought I could be really clever and identify the "somewhere" image for you, but you've got me on that one, although a mate said Lizzy lives there, whoever that is.

That building is Admiralty Arch on the eastern end of the Mall leading to Buckingham Palace. You would have been in Trafalgar Square when you took the pic.

I live in London now and I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Yes, the people in the north of england appear more friendly and polite but it's simply because London is a more crowded city so after you spend an hour travelling to work standing crushed up against hundreds of other people on a packed commuter train then you're not going to be in the best of moods. But when they're not suffering our legendary transport system they are indeed decent people.
Them old buses are getting phased out due to them not being wheelchair friendly which is a shame because it was very handy to have a bus without doors that you could just hop on or off when at traffic lights or stuck in traffic.
Other places worth visiting in the UK are Newcastle (should be easy to get to, it's popular with the Norwegians - not sure about Swedes, has decent nightlife, shopping and sightseeing), York (if you want to see a very old city with almost no modern influence), Edinburgh (for a taste of Scotland). There'll be other places worth visiting too, but those are the places I've been to most as they're served by one of the only decent train companies in the UK (GNER).
As I'm based in London now I try to take advantage of the many airports to visit countries I've never been before. Got any recommendations for places in Sweden?
