Posted by: Matt Nordhoff at March 15, 2006 10:16 PMHmm, so 25% of the spyware will still be installed when using Firefox? I guess I'll use Lynx then ;)
Posted by: Martijn at March 16, 2006 3:22 AMok, so I install Firefox and use it and the amount of spyware/adware on my computer will immediately drop by 75% - I don't think so.
Posted by: at March 16, 2006 4:53 AMOf course it won't immediately get rid of your infections - Firefox is a web browser, not a virus scanner!
What the article meant is that it prevents 75% of all malware infections through normal browsing, and as any smart computer user will tell you prevention is better than cure.
Posted by: ant at March 16, 2006 12:48 PMIt is obvious that I posted this in jest, right? ;-)
Posted by: Darin Fisher at March 16, 2006 1:43 PMI wonder if Sandra Stammberger knows her blog article is being republished on DailyIndia.com?
No mention of keeping Java up to date (or turning it off) -- the main source of infection for Mozilla/Firefox/Netscape/Flock/etc users.
Posted by: Daniel Veditz at March 17, 2006 10:53 AMUsing GNU/Linux or *BSD or any other Unix will reduce the amount of spyware and adware on your computer by 100% :]
Posted by: Azrael Nightwalker at March 18, 2006 8:24 AMWho needs spyware when Firefox will ahve it built in with pings?
