I'm settling into my new job with IBM this week, working on Mozilla full-time :-)
Posted by darin at August 13, 2003 10:53 AMWhat will you do full time on mozilla for IBM? Still necko I hope.
As glazou predicted all the people that stayed with AOL after July 15 are now leaving one by one.
yeah, i'm still going to be working on necko, but i plan to get involved more with other areas of the project... not sure what that means just yet ;-)

What exactly does IBM want from mozilla?
This is awesome they have hired you for this, but are they planning on using it on anything else besides their OS/2 platform?
glazman: actually i'm working remotely from the bayarea with bryner. we're in the same group as mkaply.
jed: it's pretty clear to me that IBM wants to see the mozilla project succeed. as for details, i'm not the right person to ask.
Posted by: Darin Fisher at August 13, 2003 2:28 PMDarin, Great news. Hope to see you land the dns rewrite patch soon after trunk opens for 1.6a
and please consider enabling pipelining by default
Yusuf: you read my mind :-)
the dns rewrite is on schedule to land when the tree opens for 1.6a, and enabling pipelining by default is one of the next things on my list. but, it needs to be done very carefully, and some fallback code is required, otherwise many websites will fail to load correctly.
Posted by: Darin Fisher at August 14, 2003 8:05 AMDoes IBM need QA for Mozilla? ;-)
/me jokes, probably not.
Posted by: Stephen Donner at August 17, 2003 12:26 AMOkay, I just told you what Apple wants you to look out for with window positions, but in the real world, not everyone uses the hiding feature of the Dock, and it is unrealistic to be able to predict where each user will place their Dock at any given day or how large they will have it. However, you can build a feature into your application that allows spacing for the Finder. You can give users the option of where to position their windows and what area of the screen not to cross. I know that BBEdit provides me with this feature, and I wish more developers gave me more control over my windows.
Posted by: Denton at January 24, 2004 10:10 AMNot quite as entertaining as Shrek, but Dock animation can be an important and useful function in your application. For example, Dock animation is a helpful way to indicate the status of your application.
