Lightning 0.5 RC 1 builds with WCAP support are now available
The 0.5 RC1 release builds were released about two days ago and the immediate feedback is looking pretty good at the moment. If it stays that way, we'll release the final 0.5 bits pretty soon.
Some of you have asked for RC1 builds of WCAP-enabled Lightning. We heard you, prepared some builds during yesterday and here they are:
As the original Lightning 0.5 RC1 builds, those builds carry all the currently supported languages with them. So installing them into a localized Thunderbird should also give a localized Lightning environment.

I am having problems with the dropdown date pickers in lightning. They drop down the calendar when clicked but then the calendar disappears. If you then mouseover where the calendar was displayed you can see the cursor change and clicking activates the invisible calendar.
Time pickers are fine. I searched bugzilla but can't find a bug related to this although I swear I have seen it before. This is on Intel Mac 10.4.9.
Still trying to figure out how to delete the lightning profile without deleting my thunderbird profile so that I can eliminate any possible bugs there. Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated.

0.5 changes (over 0.3.1) available here:
http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/rumblingedge/archives/2006/12/sb_0-5.html
Does it warrant an addition to the release notes?

@ssitter
Actually looks like Bug 346318 which was marked as fixed but is actually farther reaching than just that dialog box they mentioned, and is still present.
Actually, I remember looking at a previous build where it was fixed and so I wonder if the fix was reverted or something.

@gregr
I filed Bug 383124 for the version number issue.
@Laurent
I filed Bug 383163 for the missing string issue.

@jon
The datepicker issue (Bug 346318) was fixed in the Mozilla Toolkit using a workaround for Sunbird. This workaround isn't affective in Thunderbird therefore the issue still exists when using Lightning.

@ssitter
Thanks, I didn't realize that. I wonder what the odds are of having it fixed in 0.5. It's still pretty unusable the way it is on the mac.
Also, do you have any idea if they intend to remove the calendar control now that there is a date picker on the main Thunderbird window above the Agenda listing? It seems redundant to have both and the calendar control takes up so much room.

@ssitter : filed a new bug

Can't install lightning with wcap 0.5 on MacBook Pro running Thunderbird 2.0b2. Message says "Lightning with WCAP" could not be installed because it is not compatible with your Thunderbird build type (Darwin_x86-gcc3). Please contact the author item about your problem. :-(. I need this update to fix a daylight savings time problem. It fixed it on Windows. Now I need it for the Mac.
