Language packs for 16 languages available for Sunbird
Hi folks,
I meant to post this earlier, since a few days Stefan Sitter provides language packs for languages that have a working localization for Sunbird. We currently have language packs for the following languages:
- Catalan (ca)
- Czech (cs)
- German (de)
- Danish (da)
- Spanish-Europe (es-ES)
- Basque (eu)
- French (fr)
- Hungarian(hu)
- Irish (ga-IE)
- Italian (it)
- Mongolian (mn)
- Dutch (nl)
- Polish (pl)
- Russian (ru)
- Slovenian (sl)
- Slovakian (sk)
Comments
Ok, there are some bugs/issues with localization: I tried Slovenian lang pack over Sunbird and noticed:
1 - upon installation of lang-pack and restart Sunbird starts in English, not lang-pack language; there is no way in setting that in the interface
2 - Sunbird uses English categories names even with running other locale where those categories names are localized
3 - main, built-in calendar is named Home, although run in other locale that should have a localized name?
4 - in main calendar pane in day view the date above day name is displayed in US way (30/9) although in Slovenian/Europe it should be 9.30. Same goes for weekly view.
5 - In javascript console I have a Warning: Expected color but found 'null'. Error in parsing value for property 'background-color'. Declaration dropped. chrome://calendar/content/preferences/editCategory.xul
This was my first glance, hope you squash these bugs.
Thanks, m.

Re 1 - You could check if there is already an enhancement request for the Add-ons Manager filed. If you want to change the language via UI use the Quick Locale Switcher extension.
Re 2 - Drawback of the lang pack usage. In the full localized build this should work.
Re 3 - Using a different language will not change existing calendar names. What happens if you delete all calendars and restart Sunbird to re-create the default calendar?
Re 4 - Bug 345643
Re 5 - Can be ignored (Bug 349987)

What's Canadian? ;-) We speak English here, you know! ;-) Anyway, I think you meant Catalan.

There is still spelling differences, Colour instead of color. There is a canadian english thunderbird dictionary if you would like to compare.

Hi
I am impressed, I would like to add: has there been any work done or localisation done for arabic / lunar calendar integration with the julian (solar) calendar. If not I would like to make a contribution, if you will guide me to the specs for localisation and so forth
thanks and best regards
badrul

Hi!
Downloaded the Hungarian version to open an Outlook .ICS file.
After I tried the English version too.
In the Hungarian translation
the time fields 'From:' and 'To:' of the Event window are translated 'Sender' and 'Receipient' :)
The correct Hungarian is 'Kezde?s:' and 'Ve?ge:' (the question mark stends for an acute accent on the e like in cafe?)

I posted the comment above hoping it will reach somebody who can change it. Or somebody send me the Hungarian text file and I change it :)
