Will there be a release for Thunderbird 1.5 when it is released, or does TB 1.5 live on another branch than Sunbird 0.3a1?

jj44, There are some changes going on to the mozStorage interface, independent of Sunbird development. Hopefully things there should settle down and return to normal in a day or two. See http://blog.vlad1.com/archives/2005/11/14/78/

I'm very interested in Lightning news, and looking forward to a testable beta (for thunderbird 1.5).

Just how much code do Sunbird, Lightning, and the Calender-extension share?
Once Lightning has a stable release build, will it replace the Calender-extension, or will all 3 variants live on independantly?
and Why isnt Lightning mentioned anywhere on http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/?

Is there a tracker bug for the new version of sunbird or a tracker for the first version of lightning ??

Feel the same as Nick. Lightning should have more heads up as it isn't mentioned anywhere in the mozilla project page. There needs to be good trackers for knowing which builds work without crashing or something after 0.3 alpha or something so that guys like us can use it/play with it.

Sunbird, Lightning, and the Calendar-extension currently share all of the same back-end code. Sunbird and the Calendar-extension share almost everything. You'll notice however, substantial difference in the user-interface between current nightly builds of Lightning and Sunbird. One of the major goals of 0.3a2 is to reduce these differences, so that even more code will be shared.

This is something that is still being decided.

Because there isn't much about it that's ready for the general public yet. Once there is a decent 0.1 release, then it might make sense to have more information readily available. The wiki page you found is indeed the best resource. You can also follow Dan's blog, as he tends to post some announcements regarding Lightning there.

The tracking bug for Lightning 0.1 is Bug 298366. However, there are also several dataloss bugs that need to be fixed before Lightning will be released. It's too early for a 0.3a2 tracking bug. There's simply way too much that needs to be done.

See the above reply to Nick regarding Lightning news. There isn't much point in telling the public about something that isn't ready for their use yet.

The only way we could possibly know this would be to put our nightly builds through a rigorous testing process that we simply don't have the resources to do. Sunbird 0.3a1 is designed to be as stable as it possibly could in the time we were given to release it. Nightly builds, by definition, are not as stable. Sunbird 0.3a2, when it's released, will also try to meet the same stability standard.
