Posted by: Malcolm at August 28, 2003 11:41 PMYeah - in the US the gasoline price is too low... the US gov will do a good job at increasing the tax on gas, this will force the development of alternate source of power like nothing, before it is too late (petrol ressource will last only 50 years at current level - not taking into account that China is expected to increase its consumption by 10 in the coming years...)
Can you imagine paying 50 cents/l something that in 50 years from now (before you die) will have completely dissapeared from earth? And you pretend it is expensive...
Actually the reason why it is so low? Nobody is really producing the petrol, you're paying for extracting it only. If you had to work to produce petrol from raw plants how would the price be?
We need to go for hydrogen fuel - quickly - before the quest for petrol becomes an ugly bussiness. I don't want in 20 years from now that we consider the Irak war as the FIRST petrol war...
