Keybinding hell

With the arrival of spellchecker on the trunk, MailNews composition has become well and truly unusable. Every time I want to delete a line (which happens a lot when I'm writing a news post or mail), I get that stupid dialog popping up.

Maybe I should look for and resurrect that patch that would let me use the editor of my choice to compose the mails (and for textareas for that matter; reviewing large patches would benefit wonderfully from me being able to do it in an editor that 1) doesn't crash if my browser does and 2) has auto-save for that one time in 5 years when it crashes).

Maybe electrix http://electrix.mozdev.org/ will do what you want? I don't claim to have used it, but the documentation says "Hit C-e in a textarea to edit in e.g. emacs".

Possibly moxex. It also allows you to view source in a text editor too!

hmm... Moxex's URL is http://mozex.mozdev.org/

Mozex' view source thing is pretty horribly broken for POST pages, so don't even bring it up.

Yeah, electrix may be what I want here... I need to figure out a way to make things like that coexist with the daily Mozilla reinstalls....

Hmm. If that 'something' turns out to be a technical solution, there will probably be lots of other people interested in the same thing.

Wait, wait ... You use *a mailer that crashes when your browser does*? What kind of bass-ackwards software architecture is that? :-)

mpt, I in fact do NOT use it, as much as possible. But Mozilla insists on bringing it up when I click on mailto: links, see, because that's something that really sucks about Linux thus far.
