No more bugspam

Skimming bugmail was not working, so I have moved along to simply not reading it. I'm still saving it, and I may come back and read it sometime. I may not. In any case, I'll not be receiving any review requests, in addition to bugspam. If there is something that absolutely needs my review, please mail me in person (no guarantees that I'll be able to do it, though). Posted by bzbarsky at May 7, 2003 1:29 PM

What?
There goes Bugzilla's usefullness.
I can mabey understand not reading all the bugmail, but WHY block review requests????? That makes no sense at all. Do you really get that many everyday?

cheers for a response.

You make it sound like there is no one else to do reviews. I can think of only one area of code for which that is even close to being true (helper apps), and there is no active development going on in that area (this is why there is no one else who knows anything about it).

As for the rest... Since May 1 (this is with the freeze and with me having told people a few days back that I'm on vacation from all things Mozilla) I've done 20 reviews. In the 5 days before that, I did 25 reviews (I'd give more long-term numbers, but bugzilla croaks when trying that query; suffice it to say that these numbers are pretty representative).

So we're talking about 5 reviews a day during a freeze. A review takes 10 minutes for a short one in code I'm very familiar with. A long one could take a long time (think "days"). On average, a review takes about 25 minutes for me if I'm not dealing with big patches. You do the math.

More to the point, I have do not plan to spend time on reviews in the near future, just like I do not plan to spend time on anything else related to Mozilla. So it really doesn't matter whether I get the mail or not, since I would simply delete it and move on.

I'm as sorry as can be that it had to come to this, but attempts to simply reduce the amount of time spent on Mozilla without eliminating said time completely (back in March) were unsuccessful. So things deteriorated to the point where I simply do not have the option to spend time on this until I have dealt with some real-world things.

Do what you gotta do, Boris.
