Release Schedule
I've just updated the Firefox Roadmap again - outlining what we think are roughly the release dates. They are, if you don't feel like clicking: 10/18 for RC1, 10/25 for an optional RC2 if needed, and 11/9 for final.
Now, for the rationale:
We would like not to slip off 11/9 if at all possible... (we had initially wanted 11/2, but the odds of getting decent press coverage during the US Presidential Election seemed slim).
So, we are going to aggressively manage and drive The List (see previous entry) towards zero, try and kick something out that more or less represents final on 10/18 and hope we're not too surprised.
The reason we do so so far before 11/9 is because Software is a game of surprises.
I understand that some among you may be upset that bug(s) you consider important are not on this list. All I can tell you is - bugs I would have liked to have fixed are not on this list either. We need to try and ship something this year. This really is "alternative browsers"' day in the sun - and we intend to make the most of it.
If you want to help this initiative, please consult The List and help with steps to reproduce/attach patches.
