a bug or a feature?

A Google representative, via TechCrunch:

A bug in Google Chrome’s JavaScript engine reported the wrong type of some JavaScript objects in a very specific case, which caused Chrome to incorrectly execute Google Analytics’s JavaScript, providing an artificially high visitor count.

How does that happen? Google's browser tells Google's Analytics package that it's a lot more popular than it actually is? Bizarre.
