Wouldn't it be better to use the resources to fix Firefox performance issues (lagging big behind Chrome) or to improve existing standards (Acid 3 is still fail) ?

Insano: no, it's important to keep moving on all fronts. Focusing all of our resources on one problem isn't the way to keep the web moving forward. There are plenty of people working on the various areas of performance, and people working on web standards (there are a lot of them).

that's great news, but no-one seems to want to admit what the API will be! So it's not much use at the moment.
