Interesting. But Asa, after your sterling efforts with Air Mozilla, you need to do more Ogg evangelism within MoFo :-) Once 3.1 ships, we can't be putting Flash-based videos up in places like Vimeo. It would basically be saying that our video support isn't good enough for us.

Gerv, I disagree. It's not saying our video support isn't good enough. It's saying that there are other video sites out there that are where people have existing communities. No matter how good our video support is, if your readers/viewers are at YouTube or Vimeo, trying to get them to move to some new location is hard.
ex. Mozilla's WordPress set-up I use for my other blogs is far superior to this mozillazine movable type install, but this is where people know how to find me and moving entails a good bit of effort and a probable loss of significant readership.
It's not always about the technology. In this case, I think it's more about the real estate. Location location location.

Also using the element exclusively on Mozilla blogs would be a little elitist. If someone was on break at work browsing the web and reading up the latest Mozilla news, it's not really fair if their option is an old or IE browser.

John: That's more than most users know how to use and would break many work IT policies.
