chrome automatic update to 1.0

It looks like the folks at Google turned on the automatic (silent) update for Chrome beta users today. They should have all of their users on the latest version in just a few days. With 1.0 finally shipping and such a quick upgrade cycle, Chrome 1.0 should break 1% market share by the end of the month.

That's great, but it doesn't change the apparent lie you made about Opera in your previous auto update post.

Chrome updated to 1.0 for me the day 1.0 released.

Orrin, you were among a small minority then. The bulk of Chrome users didn't start getting updates until Monday.

"They should have all of their users on the latest version[...]"
Except those behind a proxy. Their automatic update relies on Windows Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS), on which my company IT department keeps a tight leash.

Don't do the same mistake with Firefox!
