fifty-eight ex

A fellow named Derick Eisenhardt just blogged some SunSpider results for the latest iterations of a few web browsers.

It's nice to see that Firefox is doing pretty darned well in the test compared to the other "modern" browsers (just topping Chrome and Safari and dusting Opera,) but the really interesting bit for me was that Derick says that Firefox with TraceMonkey is nearly 58 times faster than IE7 on the SunSpider benchmark.

Is that even possible? What happened to Microsoft? Did they just stop trying? Anyone know how IE8 beta compares? Heck, it almost doesn't matter. Even if it's 10 times faster than IE 7, it'll still be trailing the peloton by miles.
