half way on download day
Half way through download day, we're at approximately 4 million downloads and getting about 10K downloads per minute right now.

4 million downloads, and that's after having a partially functioning website the first two hours of that 12 hours. Amazing. My mind is blown.

Awesome! Let me be the first to congratulate the entire team @ Mozilla for making this happen...... and for ensuring the server didn't go kaput a second time. :D

Awesome job guys. I'm hoping to come to Mountain View for the next release party!
Have a great time making the next version, and I hope it goes well. Tell everyone in Toronto I said hello. They seem like a cheery bunch as well!

I was unable to download my Firefox copy last night, but I did so this morning. Europe is just getting out of bed. Expect even more downloads in the next hours.
Newspapers here in Europe have reported the launch of Firefox 3.

Firefox 3 FTW! That's all that needs to be said. Not only has Mozilla and Firefox revolutionized the way we browse the internet, they've started a cult. People love Foxkeh, and are caught wearing Firefox T-Shirts. It's simply amazing!

Seems the site is down now, too. At least for me here in Europe.

Glad to see Firefox 3 is finally out. It was certainly worth the wait...
I'm wondering how nationality is detected (download place, browser language, OS language...?)... As I'm using Minefield (English), maybe I counted as a US download, and the overall US download count is too high?

Stifu, those country numbers are geo-IP based, I think, so we're able to get approximate physical location for most downloads and tie that to a country name.

Firefox rocks! I take this opportunity to congratulate entire Mozilla team to make this happen. 5mn and counting!

Congrats on a great Firefox 3 release. I've been nightly testing Fx 3 since the very early days (pre alhpa 1) and I'm proud of what it has become! Although you made the life of the nightly testers (in the beginning) sometimes very hard ;-)
Go Mozilla, this is a great day for the web!

My website doesn't work with FF 3.0
Good job guys. Quality of your releases goes steadily down. I am sticking to 2.0 until most critical things will be worked out.
WTF

Wow. It's already 6.9Mln!
Great release! I see that add-ons management got an overhaul now improving even further the experience with themes and extensions. (Opera still can't do simple automatic updates... What a bore.)
Fx3 isn't without bugs and new uglinesses, yet this is definitely huge step forward. Keep doing it folks!
P.S. Google Toolbar is also now updated for Fx3 compatibility! It is definitely good day to me today ;)
2 ioffe: abt textContent. you forgot to do rtfm. http://blog.coderlab.us/2005/09/22/using-the-innertext-property-with-firefox/ for example.

@ioffe: Could you post the link to your buggy website?
Posted by: jimich | June 18, 2008 7:51 AM
"Partially functioning", you say? That would be an exaggeration. It's almost as if they forgot about it. ;-) Oh well, it ended well.
Now it's almost all over, except for people who have to support all the firewall problems, the "won't starts", and the "can I have my 2.0.0.14 backs?". The plaintive cries for help are pouring in, and I hope y'all don't forget us. It's a great product, but out of 7 million+ downloads, a few are going to break it or botch it.

"we're able to get approximate physical location for most downloads"
Still awaiting word from the South Sandwich Islands and Svalbard, among others. :)

ioffe: that's also what alpha, beta, and RC versions are for: making sure your site(s) work with it. Note that Firefox 3 is more standards-compliant than Firefox 2, so chances are your site is poorly coded.
