google toolbar for firefox 3
I asked the other day what people thought about search toolbars now that browsers all come with pretty sophisticated built-in search and find capabilities. There were some good responses both pro and con.
Today, the news is good for Google Toolbar fans. Just in time, it's been updated to work with Firefox 3. If you're a user and you can't do without it, here it is: Google Toolbar.
reactions, thoughts, comments, etc.
Finally!. Great news.
Wish they had not killed browser synch :(

Installed it, tried to find a way to make it respect my small icons setting, uninstalled it in frustration

I'm seeing this posted everywhere, but I keep getting an incompatibility message. I'm using Firefox/3.0b5 and the message I get is, "Google Toolbar for Firefox 3.1.20080605W could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.0b5." According to the message, it looks as though 3.1 was released on 6/5, but my understanding is that it won't be released until Tuesday. Either way, this is really frustrating!

I use just one function of the google toolbar: translate on mouse hover. Is there another extension that does just that?

Google Toolbar is not compatible with Firefox 3 betas, just with Firefox 3. Beta 5 does not identify itself as Firefox 3 like RC1-3 do. If you want it before Tuesday, you'll have to be on a Firefox Release Candidate.
