worst name in the world

Linpus Linux. Whoever came up with that should be shot. I tried for about 10 minutes and I couldn't come up with a worse name for a linux distro.

Naming is hard, but not that hard. C'mon.

Yes, I get that it's probably derived from "linux" and "Olympus", and that doesn't make it any less awful.

reactions, thoughts, comments, etc.

I guess you mean this? http://www.linpus.com/

Ugh.

Are you sure the name isn't derived from "Limp" and "Pus"? Wow.

Jesse, exactly!!

From the site:

"super-intuitive icon-based operating system"

This icon stuff they are talking about is the future- you read it here first!

It looks like they've already come up with a worse name: "Linpus Linux Lite". And don't forget to check out the "Linpus Linux Lite LiveCD". Srsly. I don't think this distribution is going to be very popular in Japan.

This distro's name is worse. (Speak it!)
(It is the result of a Linux developer's joke, thus the name.)

What a goofy name.............OMG

Hey come on! Not everyone is fluent in English, so how could the whole world know all the F* words? I know Jesse Ruderman is the founder of Pornzilla, but why has everyone such a distorted view of the world? ;)

I can't say great things about the logo either. OR the marquee on the main page. Looks like a candidate for http://www.websitesthatsuck.com/ !

Ha! This reminds me of a kiosk I saw in a mall yesterday with a serious problem with their naming or at least with their signs.

It sold foreign films, heavy in martial arts, and was named "Foreign FLIX"

Unfortunately the font they used on the name was squarish, so the "LI" in FLIX looked a LOT like a "U"... which spells something quite different... at least when sounded out.

OTOH, I didn't look closely at what kind of movies they were selling, so many both names cover the genres they carry. ;-) Considering this was in a mall, I doubt they really meant to imply they were selling adult films.
