congratulations to opera
The good folks at Opera Software, ASA have just become the first browser in the world to pass the super sexy, super trippy Acid 3 test and the colors (!) are so wild, man.
Congratulations.

According to Hixie's blog, this might not be the case due to last minute changes.

Safari also passes:

Also, passing all 100 subtests doesn't mean passing the whole test. It also needs to have smooth animation and render the final frame exactly like the reference image. Both Opera and WebKit mentioned having minor rendering issues to fix.
The race for first place is awfully close, and at this point it looks like it's a matter of hours.

How did they manage that? They jump from 50-60 to 100 in one version? Or did I miss something? Anyway, well done Opera team!

I think part of the reason behind the score jumps were bugs in the Acid3 test itself, as well as minor bugs in the respective rendering engines which, once fixed, passed several tests.
I'm sure Gecko will catch up in no time - looking forward to Acid3 compliance in Firefox 4 :)

Hoping to see every browser lit up with colors soon (ahhhem. IE, now that you can smile, any chance there will be a rainbow within the next decade?)
Opera doesn't pass the test yet, nor does Safari. They just have 100/100 subtests.
