nifty tab animation

Today's trunk nightly build has a nifty tab animation for overflow tabs. If you're not on the tip of the trunk, now's a great time. It's starting to get fun.

Overflow tabs? What are they?

Uhm, the animation is nice, but only seems to work for one tab? That is, I can scroll have a tab to the left/right but I cannot scroll to the 5 tabs left/right of that one that is displayed first/last.

It is nice when you scroll just one tab. When you scroll more than one tab at once, it is too slow.

I hope that it will be fixed. Otherwise, this is going to be unwelcome change.

I made a short animation to show for those who don't want to try a nightly: http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2007/08/firefox-3-gets-smooth-tab-scrolling/

It can be disabled setting toolkit.scrollbox.smoothScroll to false in case you don't like it.

Everything is nice except for the flickering that occurs when animation is slowing down. Gives me a headache.
