light-weight macbook pro bag

I'm looking for a laptop bag for this new macbook pro (which doesn't quite fit right in my older PC bag.) I want something extremely light but not as simple as just a sleeve. The bag should be sized correctly for the 15.4" mbp and should have room to carry a power supply and an extra battery.

The two I've found so far that I like are the MacCase Sling and the LEVertigo. I haven't seen either of these bags in person so I'm not sure whether or not I'll actually like carrying either of them. I do like the bright interior of the Sling. If any of you have any experience with either of these or have recommendations for light-weight bags, please let me know.

Those look pretty snazzy ;-) I carry mine in a Brenthaven case: http://www.brenthaven.com/catalog-duo.html

It's an excellent, functional bag that's pretty comfortable to carry, although it does get a bit heavy when it's full of all your accessories, and I don't even have a spare battery yet. Enjoy your new toy, I love mine.

What's wrong with the Firefox bag?
(see: http://store.mozilla.org/product.php?code=MZ34014)

My 15.4" Sony Laptop fits in there just fine including it's massive powers supply.
It's a great bag.

I'm a fan of STM bags: http://www.stmbags.com.au/shoulderbags . Not sure about availability in the states, but Mac stores here carry them (as does their online store in aus, http://store.apple.com/133-622/WebObjects/australiastore.woa/wo/0.RSLID?find=STM&btn.x=0&btn.y=0)

I've got a medium curve ( http://www.stmbags.com.au/mediumcurve ) and love it.

Jed, the Firefox bag (which I have) is too large. It's good if you like to carry around a lot of stuff and end up with a broken shoulder, but I'm looking for something much more minimalist. I just need room for the mbp, a power brick, and an extra battery. If I have space for more, I'll use it and that's what I'm doing now with the Firefox bag.

Henk, that looks great! Does it have any room for a spare battery and power supply?

My vote goes for the Brenthaven too. I have a Metro Core Light shoulder case (affordable at $70 too) that's been great. The shoulder strap is comfortable and the case protects the computer really well. Not as eye-catching as the two you found, but it is light and serves the purpose comfortably.

Dear Asa,

I have a Sophisticator and there is enough room for a spare battery and power supply!

Greetings

Asa: True, I guess because I carry around School books as well I'm used to breaking my shoulder and extremely heavy bags :)

Not to rain on the parade, but why do personal quests continue to spam mozillaZine? If this is OK, can I also post personal requests here? It would be a big help.

NeedHelp, this is my personal weblog. I talk about all kinds of things here other than Mozilla and Firefox. That's not going to change. If you don't want to read it, then don't. You can probably find more Mozilla specific information in the developer newsgroups.

You can start your own blog if you want!

Asa,

Jason O'Grady is a self confessed bag nut (see: www.powerpage.org). His latest post is about another bag. You can find info about a number of bags there.

Ikea does a MBPro/Pbook sized bag that fits, as a part of a desk, but you can just buy the bag, for under $10 !

Shoulder bags for laptops are conspicuous and always end up hurting my shoulder--I've been much happier since switching to a laptop backpack, personally. L.L. Bean's top of the line backpack is $70 (the "Super Shockwave Pack" or something similarly incongruous with their image), it has a laptop sleeve and works like a charm--for some business trips that's the only bag I need.
