microsummary available

If you're using Bon Echo Alpha 2 or the latest trunk builds, you can now take advantage of the new microsummary available at this weblog. Just go to your bookmark for my blog and click on the summary dropdown to select the latest title. I've set up the summary to give you the title of the latest post so if you've put a bookmark to this blog in your personal toolbar, the bookmark label will display the title of the latest post rather than the boring page title. (assuming I implemented it correctly.)

You can read more about microsummaries here.

We've also been discussing them in the Firefox Builds forum. Feel free to join in there too: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=416426

Just a note: you have to bookmark the main page: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/asa/ for this to work since there's where the for the microsummary is. Thanks.

Nothing happens when I click on the things in:
http://people.mozilla.org/~myk/microsummaries/generators/
I mean I get the "Add the following microsummary generator?" dialog, but after I confirm, nothing has happened. I should have seen it in my bookkmarks toolbar, shouldn't I?

I'm using
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060515 Minefield/3.0a1
It should work in here, shouldn't it?
I'm curious what this microsummary thing is, but currently, I really don't have a clue what it should do.

Martijn: after installing the generator, bookmark asa's page and before saving the bookmark choose which generator to use for the microsummary. its in the add bookmark dialog.

btw Thanks Asa's

Maybe it's a cool feature, but it doesn't work...

I bookmarked your page and selected the check box. I don't get it nothing happens.

Interesting concept.

It works, if one were to select "Bookmarks Toolbar" within "visible in".

I don't know where "visible in" can be selected.

But I just found out, that you need to right-click on the bookmark (or select Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks), then go to "Properties" where you can chose between "Don't display a Summary" and "microsummary available". The default is "Don't display a Summary".

The second option appears only, when a site supports microsummaries, still it is strange, that they are not activated by default. At least the check is done automatically, so it shouldn't be a problem to make Firefox display microsummaries when they are supported.

"microsummary available" is actually the title of the latest title in Asa's blog, so, it works. Except that... it disappears! I mean the bookmark to this blog has actually disappeared from the folder it was in. I keep a folder named mozilla in Bookmarks Toolbar folder, and Asa's blog bookmark has disappeared from it, after setting it to use live bookmarks, and restarting Fx. Have seen this in both computers I use.
