new performancing version
Today the cats over at Performancing have released a new version.
The new version has improved Technorati support, new Delicious integration, Trackback, draft, and ping support.
You want this extension :-)

This post of yours has reminded me of something I've been willing to ask for a long time. Shouldn't Firefox somehow tell the user that there are updates for extensions available? Now one has to go and check manually every once in a while :/
btw, Performancing is great, thanks for the heads up!

Donatas: ??? Firefox does tell 'the user that there are updates for extensions available' (mind you, there was that bug in Ubuntu Linux that prevented it, but there's a work-around). I see that the 1.1 version is already on the Mozilla Add-ons site, so users of the previous version should be getting notice of the update right now. I think Asa was just letting us know about it in case we didn't have it installed already...

My Firefox never lets me know when new versions of extensions are available. I only find out if I open the extensions window, and there's an 'update' button next to the relevant entry.
And yes, I have the option to be updated checked.

To quote Cusser (moderator of Mozillazine):
"That doesn't exist in 1.5, in any theme."

I got all excited and tried Performancing again, when I saw that they had fixed the "Edit post" option to preserve original date on posts after they are edited with Performancing. But after trying it, it didn't work for me. Editing a post, clicking "Post as edit", moved my edited post to the top of my blog, and restamped it with the current time. :(
Maybe I'll dig in their forums to see if someone else had that issue.

I have the same problem as Donatas and Mr Lizard. I onnly see extensions are needing updated by looking at the list. Win XP.
I realise this is off topic and there was a plea not to do that recently. Still thought it would be nice for them to know they're not alone.

Egads, I had no idea Firefox was being naughty; I just thought there weren't any extension updates at the moment!
I'm using the official Mozilla version of Firefox 1.5 on Ubuntu Linux (5.10) and it seems that I have the same problem as Donatas, Mr. Lizard and Paul: when I go Help -> Check for Updates, Firefox says there are no new updates, but when I just looked at my Extensions there were (literally) half a dozen extensions needing attention.
Hope this gets fixed in 1.5.0.1!
